By offering diabetic education, diabetic management and nutrition services, Compass medical has the ability to facilitate the knowledge, skill, and ability necessary for patients to improve their health outcomes. Please read the descriptions below to understand how these services differ and what each has to offer.
Diabetic Management
Glynelle White ANP, CDE, is an Adult Nurse Practitioner and Certified Diabetes Educator. She has completed education and clinical training allowing her to diagnose and treat many common and chronic illnesses, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention activities, including patient education and counseling. The focus of her practice at Compass Medical is Diabetes Management.
As an NP, Glynelle’s responsibilities include taking histories, performing physical assessments, developing differential diagnoses, and actually managing disease, as well as using research findings to improve outcomes. Glynelle can legally adjust the diabetes medications, order diagnostic tests, and refer patients for necessary consultations.
Diabetic Education
Lynne Mackay RN, CDE, is a Diabetic Educator or a Diabetic Lifestyle Coach/Counselor who assists with diabetes maintenance. Lynne encourages consistent exercise, blood sugar goal ranges, teaches about insulin administration just to name a few. Lynne does not handle medications nor ordering.
Nutrition
Gail Williams RD, LDN, provides medical nutrition therapy and nutrition care plans to meet patient's personal goals. Gail performs nutritional screening, evaluation and assessment for patients. She will counsel and educate individuals/families on ways to improve their health.
